S U M M E R

This has been developed exclusively for small hobby Breeders and Home based families, Not for kennel owners. We've combined practical guidelines with high breeding standards to support the proper development and enhancement of our breeds and where and how they're raised and cared for. We provide support and resources to our guardian homes to aid in the establishment of a superior breeding program.
This is For all of our breeds not just Dalmatians.
We currently have 2 guardian homes and will be looking for more families/breeders within a 50 mile radius from Dillsburg, PA.
ONLY OTHER REPUTABLE BREEDERS WILL BE ALLOWED TO KEEP FEMALES

WHAT IS A GUARDIAN HOME

A guardian home program is where we place our breeding prospects with local families and we retain the breeding rights and ownership, until he or she is retired from our program. Once they are retired, full ownership will transfer to the guardian family and they will get to keep the dog forever.

Becoming a Guardian Home gives you the opportunity to have one of our puppies or young adults as a family pet while he or she remains in our program at no upfront cost to you!

By offering the guardian program, we are able to ensure that our dogs get to live the best possible lives in a loving, caring home where they receive as much one on one attention as possible.

DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE DOG IM GETTING?

No, you will receive a top quality dog that has been hand selected by us to remain in our program at no upfront cost!

WHAT EXPENSES IS A GUARDIAN HOME RESPONSIBLE FOR?

Guardians are responsible for all “regular” dog care including providing food, treats, toys, etc. They are also responsible for normal vet care that is not breeding related. The dog must be kept UTD on all shots, flea and tick meds, and heartworm meds at guardians expense. Guardians are also required to pay for grooming unless they opt to do it themselves.

WHAT ARE REQUIREMENTS TO BE A GUARDIAN HOME?

  • Have a fenced in yard (though some exceptions may be made)

  • Teach basic commands such as sit, stay, lay-down, “no”, quiet, and leave it as well as how to walk politely on a leash

  • Potty train and crate train the dog by 9 months of age if they are not already

  • Keep the dog as an indoor family pet and never allow them to live outside

  • Keep the dog off of the ground where other dogs frequent (dog parks, pet stores, etc) and away from unknown dogs until the dog is fully vaccinated (around 16 weeks)

  • Be willing and able to socialize the dog with other dogs as well as people

  • Provide adequate exercise and mental stimulation

  • Be able to bring the dog to and from the breeder within 24-36hr notice

  • Must be able to communicate, cooperate, and coordinate with the breeder effectively

  • Contact the breeder in the event of any serious illness or accident

  • You may not be a guardian home for a different breeder while participating in our program

WHAT IS THE BREEDER RESPONSIBLE FOR?

  • Provide guardian family with a healthy dog at no cost

  • Pay for health testing

  • Pay for all breeding related expenses (ie OFA testing, Registrations, kennel club fees, etc)

  • Teaching the guardian family how to detect a heat cycle and how to care for a pregnant dog if they don’t already know

  • Pay for the spay/neuter upon retirement

  • Pay a monetary sum of up to $300 per litter

  • Scheduling any other stud services

  • Always be willing to take the dog back if the guardian family can no longer care for them

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DONT WANT TO BREED MY DOG?

Becoming a guardian home for one of our dogs is a huge commitment and a decision that should not be made lightly. Please keep in mind that we retain full legal ownership of the dog until they are retired from our program and guardians have a legal obligation to follow the contract. Our dogs are very high quality and have been hand selected to benefit and improve our program further.

Becoming a guardian home is not for everyone! Please consider this commitment carefully.

As mentioned above, our dogs have been hand selected to be a part of our program and in most cases may be irreplaceable. We do allow this in some cases. However, you will have to pay the breeding rights fee and have ownership transferred over. You can NOT get the dog fixed under any circumstances (because it is not legally yours) then try to buy it out for a cheaper price. Remember, they will still get to be yours forever once they are retired from our program. Please be sure you are able to make this commitment.

CAN MY DOG BE BOUGHT FROM THE PROGRAM?

WHAT HAPPENS IF I HAVE TO MOVE?

You return the dog.

Remember, the dog is legally NOT yours until retired from our program. I understand that life can be unpredictable and things may change, but please keep in mind that in most cases you will not be able to buy him or her out of our program. We have invested a lot into our dogs to ensure that we are bettering our program and we have also most likely already started making plans for them in our program. This means that you will be required to return him or her.

If you know that you will be moving before the contract is up which is a 3-5 year contract, please do not apply for a puppy. In some cases, we may have a young adult that is looking for a guardian family that may be an option if they’ll be in our program for a shorter period of time.

What HAPPENS IF MY DOG ISNT SUITABLE FOR BREEDING?

If your dog is deemed unsuitable for breeding by either us or one of our veterinarians, in which we will personally take the dog to and pay for the expenses, then the dog will be retired from our program. You will not be required to pay any fees, but you will be required to pay for spay/neuter at your expense. After that, full ownership will transfer over to you.

HOW MUCH DO I GET PAID?

Guardians of males get up to $300 per successful litter After first sale of puppy. Any litters 2 - 4 you will get $100. Litters 5 - 7 you will get $200. 8 or more you will get $300.

BENEFITS TO BEING A GUARDIAN HOME

  • You are getting a top quality dog at no up front cost

  • The dog will be health tested at the breeder’s expense

  • Monetary $100.-$300 compensation for each litter

  • The breeder pays for spay or neuter UNLESS deemed unsuitable for breeding.

  • Once retired and spayed/neutered, full rights and ownership are transferred to you at no cost.

  • Knowing your canine companion is blessing families all over the country

  • We consider all of our puppy/dog owners family, but when you become a guardian you are truly part of our team

MALES IN OUR GUARDIAN PROGRAM

WHEN DO MALES START BREEDING AND HOW OFTEN?

Males can start breeding anywhere from 7-8 months+. We prefer 8 months to a year old. We will access each male individually with our vet. How often are they bred?-This is a tricky question and can vary greatly depending on our planned pairings and the fact that we do offer stud service to outside breeders. Males may be needed one time a year or they may be needed several times. This is another reason that we prefer our males live in close proximity to us. So that they are away from their family for as short of time as possible.

HOW LONG DO MALES STAY IN THE GUARDIAN PROGRAM?

Males stay in our program up until 6 years same with some females. However, we may retire some dogs early based on our discretion or our reproductive vet’s.

MY FRIEND HAS AN AMAZING DOG ID LIKE TO BREED WITH!

We retain all breeding rights. We retain legal ownership of the dog until retirement or a buy out. This means that he may not be mated with any unapproved females even if it is an “accident”. Males should never be allowed around any unapproved females in heat. If there is an "accident" you will be required to pay a penalty fine of $2000. for breach of contract and court costs if it leads to that. The responsibility is yours.
